2010 Norman Robinson Stakes Field

October 14th, 2010

The 2010 Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes field is out, and 13 fine thoroughbreds will contest the race over 2000 metres.

Retrieve seems like the best chance in this run, with a barrier 1 draw and coming off a second place in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes and a win in the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes. Carrying the top weight of 57kg might be a slight problem, but the excellent barrier draw should make up for it.

Yulalona also looks good in the 2010 Norman Robinson Stakes, three wins in his last 3 starts, preceded by two second place finishes. The only catch is that this will be his first Group race, with his best win so far in the 1800 metre listed Dulcify Quality. He will also be starting from barrier 9, but he has won from a wide barrier in the past.

Digital Fortress would look a lot better if he wasn’t in barrier 10, but he could be good for a place. He has yet to run a 2000 metre race, but he will carry just 55.5kg and is coming off some quality wins in minor races.
